Men's Basketball Wins Back-to-Back MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week

Wolf sparked Western Michigan to back-to-back victories in the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic. After scoring only 11 career points in 19 games, Wolf exploded for a career-high 15 points, career-high five rebounds, one assist and one steal in the Broncos' victory over Colonial Athletic Association preseason favorite Northeastern, 75-60. Wolf hadn't made a three-pointer in three career attempts and hadn't attempted a shot this season before going 4-for-4 behind the arc against the Huskies. Wolf came back in the next game to hit each of his first two three-pointers in a victory over Southern Conference preseason favorite College of Charleston, 66-63. He also added three rebounds, one assist and no turnovers in 21 minutes. In two games, Wolf averaged 11.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and one assist per game, while making 6-of-8 three-pointers and 4-of-6 free throws. Wolf also directed the offense with just one turnover in 45 minutes of action.

Wolf has a 3.26 grade point average majoring in civil engineering.

It was unclear whether David Kool would be able to play after sustaining a back injury and missing all but one practice leading into Sunday's game vs. Sam Houston State. He responded to the challenge and hit the game-winning shot with 3.9 seconds remaining on his way to 31 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals against Southland Conference preseason favorite Sam Houston State. Kool also made the game-clinching steal on defense as time expired. Kool scored 17 points in the first half and then added 14 points in the final 10:54 of the game, including eight points in the final 2:03, to help WMU overcome a 15-point deficit with 14:04 to play in the game. Kool scored 30 or more points for the third time this season and led WMU to its third win in a row and fourth this season against a preseason conference favorite.

Kool has a 3.40 grade point average majoring in physical education.
