Spring Break '98

with the Wolf pack

Spring Break started on March 27th and ran through April 5th. Below is a day by day list of all the fun Kathy, Alex, Lauren and Tom had during Spring Break '98.

Friday, March 27: Alex had AAU basketball practice.

Saturday, March 28: Kathy and Tom left the house at 9 AM and drove to Grand Rapids to pick up the rental car. They got back to Portage at 11:30 and the journey to Florida began at 12 noon.

Sunday, March 29: At 6 AM they reached Florida and by 7:30 AM the Wolf pack was checking out the sunrise on a beach just south of Jacksonville (see below). The reached the Vistana Resort by 10 AM and spent the day with the Christoferson's (sorry if I spelled it wrong John and Theresa) at one of the many Vistana pools. Tom and Alex even sqeezed in a little mid day clay court tennis.

Monday, March 30: The Wolf's spent most of the day indoors nursing some serious sun burns. Around 4 we went to the movies and ended the day with Chinese dinner at the Red Dragon.

Tuesday, March 31: Everyone went to Universal Studios and enjoyed the Mardi Gras atmosphere. Dinner that night was at Jungle Jims.

Wednesday, April 1: Hung out at the Vistana during the day, then journeyed into time that evening when the Wolfs went to see Alex' favorite part of the trip "Medieval Times". We cheered for the Yellow Knight.

Thursday, April 2: John, Jessica, Michael, Alex, Lauren, and Tom returned to Universal Studios and closed the place down by attending the Mardi Gras parade until almost 9 PM. Kathy and Theresa spent the day poolside at the Vistana.

Friday, April 3: Everyone went to Typhoon Lagoon (Kathy and Tom are pictured below) during the day to swim with the sharks, then finished the evening with a Texas Steakhouse meal.

Saturday, April 4: By 6 AM Tom had herded the rest of the Wolfs into the car and they were heading back to Portage. At 9 AM they stopped for McDonalds where Tom proceeded to leave all their money and credit cards in his fanny pack on the back of a seat. 5 miles down the highway he realized his error, then managed to dent the back of the rental car (see below) in his anxiety to get the car turned around and headed back to McDonalds. As luck would have it Tom's fanny pack was still hanging on the chair right where he left it.

Sunday, April 5: Arived in Portage around 3 in the morning. By 9 AM Tom was heading to Grand Rapids by himself to return the rental car, thus ending a fun filled 10 days of Spring Break '98.
